The Joyce Foundation was pleased to host Patrice Walker Powell, acting chairman of the National Endowment for the Arts (NEA), as a featured speaker at our April board meeting. Ms. Powell provided highlights of ongoing NEA activities, and discussed the importance of maintaining a local commitment to the arts especially during challenging times.
After dinner, guests attended a premiere week performance of Ghostwritten, a new play written by Joyce Award winning playwright Naomi Iizuka and presented by the Goodman Theatre in Chicago.
