EMPLOYMENT: Testing Strategies to Help Former Prisoners Find and Keep Jobs

Helping identify which strategies are most effective at helping former prisoners find and keep jobs is the goal of the Transitional Jobs Reentry Demonstration (TJRD) project, developed by the Joyce Foundation. One of the largest evaluations of employment programs for former prisoners since the 1970s, the TJRD project is looking at models used in Chicago, Detroit, Milwaukee and St. Paul to determine whether supportive job programs help increase employment and reduce recidivism among men recently released from prison. To learn more about the project, read TJRD’s policy brief here.
