Strengthening Jazz in the Region

In the early 1920s, when the jazz scene in Chicago flourished with great talents like Louis Armstrong and Joe "King" Oliver, old and young, city and suburban dwellers, rich and poor alike, were drawn to this new and exciting art form.

Even today, jazz clubs and performance venues across the city and throughout the region continue to thump with live music—be it bebop, swing, avant-garde or ragtime.

The Joyce Foundation is working with a consortium of other funders to strengthen Chicago’s jazz legacy by investing in local jazz efforts and institutions through the Chicago Jazz Partnership. Below are more examples of the programs we support:
