Across the country on January 8th, vigils will commemorate the first anniversary of the Tucson, Arizona, shooting that killed six people and wounded 13 others, including US Representative Gabrielle Giffords. Sadly, the six who died that day were just a small fraction of the Americans who fell victim to gun violence in 2011. Annually, more than 100,000 Americans are killed or injured by firearms, and the number of Americans who are shot continues to rise.

The Joyce Foundation is committed to supporting efforts to build awareness about the problem of gun violence in America, and to educating the public and policy makers about the common-sense policies that can help reduce gun violence and improve public health and safety.
