Joyce Partners Receive Workforce Innovation Fund Grants
Two Joyce partners receive $15 million in Department of Labor grants
Department of Labor Secretary Hilda Solis announced the grant recipients of the Department’s Workforce Innovation Fund. Two of the 26 recipients – Chicago Cook Workforce Partnership and the Illinois Department of Commerce and Economic Opportunity (DCEO) – are Joyce Foundation partners.
A $3 million grant to the Chicago Cook Workforce Partnership will support a new integrated performance management system to improve outcomes for Chicago workers. DCEO, which received a $12 million grant, will support regional workforce partnerships in manufacturing with a special emphasis on developing educational opportunities for underprepared adults.
The Workforce Innovation Fund supports efforts to develop and expand innovative strategies to help Americans return to work by delivering services more efficiently, facilitating cooperation across programs and funding streams, and focusing on partnerships with specific employers or industry sectors to develop programs that reflect current and future skill needs.
