Beth Swanson Named Joyce Foundation VP Of Strategy And Programs

7/31/2014

Beth Swanson will join the Joyce Foundation in September as Vice President of Strategy and Programs.

Beth has a deep understanding and deft management of complex policy issues. Formerly as Deputy Chief of Staff for Education for the City of Chicago, Beth worked closely with the Mayor Rahm Emanuel and other leaders to define the city's education policy agenda from birth through college. She has served as point person in expanding early learning opportunities, achieving a full school day, bringing quality school options to families, and launching the city's Summer of Learning.

In her new role at Joyce, Beth will help guide the development of strategic approaches to reach public policy goals across our six focus areas:  education, employment, environment, democracy, gun violence prevention and culture. Her experience at the intersection of policy and practice, and her shared love of our community, make her the perfect fit to support the work of our grantees.
