Today, the Joyce Foundation announced the appointment of Kayce Ataiyero as Director of Communications.

Ataiyero, who joined the Joyce team in February 2018 as Senior Communications Officer, will lead communications strategy for the Foundation. She succeeds Bill Strong as Communications Director.

Prior to Joyce, Ataiyero held several communications leadership positions in the public sector, including in the Cook County State's Attorney's Office, the office of U.S. Congresswoman Robin Kelly and the Illinois Governor's Office. A skilled writer and storyteller, Ataiyero is also a former journalist, having worked at a number of national newspapers, including the Chicago Tribune, the Washington Post, and the Philadelphia Inquirer.

“We are certainly fortunate to have at Joyce the highly talented Kayce Ataiyero,” said Joyce Foundation President Ellen Alberding. “Though Kayce has been with Joyce just nine months, she has demonstrated strong strategic thinking as well as excellent execution on a range of projects, while quickly coming up to speed on the many different issues we focus on. Kayce is a delight to work with and will be a wonderful Director of Communications.”

Strong began his relationship with Joyce as a consultant in 2013 before being appointed Director of Communications in 2015. As director, he worked to advance the role of communications as a key component of the foundation's strategic grant making. He also helped manage the foundation’s portfolio of grants to regional and national news media.

With today's move, Strong comes full circle as he will return to his firm BStrong Communications, through which he will serve as senior communications consultant for Joyce.

Alberding noted: “Bill has been an integral part of the Joyce team, originally as a consultant, then as Director of Communications, and as part of the management team. Given our long and productive relationship, I am confident that his wise counsel and A+ communications skills will continue to make a positive impact. His commitment to the Foundation’s goals, as well as his friendship, have added immeasurably to the effective and smooth operation of the Foundation, and I look forward to his ongoing engagement.”
