Lilly Athamanah


As Communications Specialist, Lilly manages strategy and implementation of digital and earned media assets. She also assists on a range of activities, including issues research, project management, media relations, and internal communications.

Prior to joining the Foundation in 2016, Lilly was a public affairs trainee at Kivvit, a strategic communications firm headquartered in Chicago. She worked with clients on public affairs initiatives across a variety of sectors including education, government, business, not-for-profit, and culture. Lilly previously was a senior press and communications intern for the Office of Mayor Rahm Emanuel, and worked as a volunteer in local and national political campaigns through the Mikva Challenge "Elections in Action" program.

A Chicago native and Posse Scholar, Lilly graduated from Carleton College in Northfield, Minnesota, the institution in which the Posse Foundation awarded her a full-tuition leadership scholarship to attend. She earned a bachelor’s degree in American Studies.
