Robert G. Bottoms

Robert G. Bottoms most recently served as Interim Dean and President of Seabury Western Theological Seminary in Evanston, Illinois. Previously, Dr. Bottoms served as the first Director of the Janet Prindle Institute for Ethics at DePauw University in Greencastle, Indiana. In 2009, Dr. Bottoms became President Emeritus of the university after serving as President since 1986. During his tenure, Dr. Bottoms led major efforts to diversify the university community and to improve the university’s commitment to the sciences and to moral reflection. Dr. Bottoms has served as a member of numerous educational/volunteer organizations. In addition, he has been a consultant to the Lilly Endowment, the Arthur Vining Davis Foundations and the Fund for Theological Education. A native of Birmingham, Alabama, Dr. Bottoms holds degrees from Emory University and Vanderbilt.
