Francisco J. Velasco

Controller
Portrait of Francisco J. Velasco

Francisco Velasco is a Chicago native who previously worked for KPMG’s Public Sector group, primarily providing audit services to governmental, higher education and not-for-profit clients. He graduated from DePaul University in 2015 with a Bachelor’s degree in accountancy, and he holds a CPA license.

Known by all as Frankie, which he prefers, Velasco grew up in the city’s Logan Square and Humboldt Park neighborhoods. As the son of immigrants from Mexico and a first-generation college graduate, he says that helping the Foundation help the next generation is especially meaningful for him, just as he credits “a huge support system” for helping him along the way.

Velasco serves on the Foundation’s Racial Equity Committee and a Foundation-wide task force that works to support Chicago communities. He is incredibly passionate about all things Chicago, but especially the White Sox.
