Simbarashe Runyowa joined the Foundation in August 2021, through the University of Chicago Harris School of Public Policy’s Applied Data Fellowship program. He will assist the Foundation through August 2022 in data analytics and advancing its learning and measurement capabilities.

Runyowa is a data analyst, researcher, and strategist with experience in business strategy roles for African social enterprises. He has worked with company founders and CEOs on strategic initiatives, business development, investor relations, and market entry research.

Among those roles has been special projects advisor to the CEO of the nonprofit Pula in Nairobi, Kenya, which helps smallholder farmers in Africa and Asia build resilience and profitability through micro-insurance programs.

He also was a consultant to the African Leadership Academy in Johannesburg, South Africa, and special projects associate to the CEO of the African Leadership University in Pamplemousses, Mauritius.

Runyowa holds a Master of Arts degree in international development, finance and policy from the Harris School. He graduated with honors from Oberlin College in 2015 with a bachelor’s degree in politics and economics.
